1. Who these terms are between
- · These terms are between you and Learn and Drive UK, Manchester. By booking a lesson you accept them.
- · Your instructor is a DVSA approved driving instructor teaching on our behalf. Your agreement is with us, so if something goes wrong you come to us and we sort it out — you are not passed between parties.
- · If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should read these terms with you.
2. Before your first lesson
- · You must be at least 17, and hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence.
- · Bring your licence to every lesson. Your instructor is required to check it and cannot legally teach you without it.
- · You must be able to read a number plate from 20 metres, wearing glasses or contact lenses if you need them. Your instructor will check this at the first lesson.
- · Tell us about any medical condition, medication or licence endorsement that affects your driving. This stays confidential. We would far rather know than find out at the roadside.
- · You must not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, including prescription medication that affects your driving. If your instructor believes you are, the lesson ends there and is charged in full.
3. Booking and deposits
- · Lessons are booked through the website or by phone, normally at least 24 hours ahead.
- · A 30% deposit is taken when you book, and confirms the slot. Until it is paid the time is not held for you.
- · The balance is due by the end of the lesson or block, unless you have agreed something else with us in writing.
- · Your deposit comes off the total. It is not an extra charge.
- · Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details never reach our servers and we cannot see them.
- · Prices can change, but never for lessons or packages you have already paid for.
4. Cancelling and rearranging
- · Cancel or rearrange free of charge with at least 48 hours notice, and your deposit moves to the new slot.
- · Inside 48 hours the lesson may be charged in full and the deposit is not returned. Your instructor has held that time and generally cannot fill it at short notice.
- · If you are not ready at the agreed pick-up time your instructor will wait 15 minutes. After that it is treated as a late cancellation.
- · If we cancel — illness, a vehicle fault, weather your instructor judges unsafe — you are never charged, and we rearrange at your convenience. If you would rather not rearrange, you get your money back.
- · Instructors occasionally have to move lessons at short notice for mechanical problems. We will give you as much warning as we can.
5. Packages and block bookings
- · Package hours must be used within 6 months of purchase. Unused hours expire after that.
- · Packages are personal to you and cannot be transferred to someone else.
- · If you stop part-way through a package, the lessons you have taken are charged at the standard hourly rate rather than the discounted package rate, because the discount is earned by completing the block. Whatever remains is refunded to you.
- · If you are close to the end of a package and cannot use the last hours in time, ask us. We would rather extend it than take money for lessons nobody had.
6. Refunds and your right to change your mind
- · Because you are buying online, you have a statutory 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, starting the day you book.
- · If you ask us to start lessons inside those 14 days and then cancel, we may charge for the lessons you have actually taken. Nothing more.
- · Agreed refunds are returned within 14 days, to the card that paid.
- · We do not charge an administration fee to process a refund.
- · None of this affects your statutory rights.
7. Driving tests
- · We do not book, change or cancel DVSA driving tests for you. Since 12 May 2026 only the learner named on the licence may do this — that restriction applies to driving instructors and third-party booking services alike.
- · Booking your test is your responsibility, through your own GOV.UK account. Never give your GOV.UK details to anyone, including us.
- · Our test-date alert service tells you about cancellation slots our instructors have spotted. They are logged by hand and may be gone by the time you look. We give no guarantee that any slot is still there.
- · Use of a tuition car for your test is charged separately, must be arranged in advance, and depends on your instructor being available. It is not automatic.
- · If you cancel a lesson or test cover at short notice on test day, the full charge applies.
8. The learning platform
- · Mock theory tests and hazard perception practice are revision aids. They are not the official DVSA test, and passing them does not mean you will pass the real one.
- · Your progress is visible to your assigned instructor, so lessons can be aimed at what you actually need.
- · The account is yours alone. Do not share it, copy the question bank, or try to extract content from the platform.
9. Conduct and safeguarding
- · We expect courtesy toward instructors, and instructors are held to the same standard toward you.
- · Abusive, discriminatory or threatening behaviour ends the lesson immediately with no refund, and may end the arrangement altogether.
- · Smoking, vaping and eating are not permitted in tuition vehicles.
- · Our instructors hold enhanced DBS checks and are required to tell us immediately about any caution, conviction or allegation.
- · Any safeguarding or harassment concern is taken seriously, investigated, and reported to the DVSA and the police where appropriate. Tell us at once — you can ask to speak to someone other than your instructor.
10. Liability
- · All tuition vehicles are fully insured for driving tuition, taxed and maintained.
- · We are responsible for loss you suffer as a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms. We are not responsible for losses we could not have foreseen, or for indirect losses such as time off work or the cost of a failed test.
- · We are not responsible for how you drive once you are unaccompanied and holding a full licence.
- · Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
11. Complaints
- · Tell us first — email info@learnanddrive.uk or call 07966 587877. Most things are sorted out the same week.
- · We aim to give you an outcome, or a clear update, within 7 days.
- · If you are not satisfied with our answer, say so and we will look at it again with someone who was not involved the first time.
- · If your complaint concerns the conduct of an approved driving instructor and we cannot resolve it between us, you can raise it with the DVSA.
12. Changes to these terms
- · We may update these terms. The version that applies to your booking is the one published when you booked.
- · If a change materially affects you — pricing, cancellation, or refunds — we will tell you directly rather than quietly editing this page.
13. Governing law
- · These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in its courts. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there.
